On April 11, 2017, Jacksonville City Council voted unanimously in favor of a 6-month contract extension and $175,000 earmarked for capital improvements for Hemming Park. These capital improvements – also made possible grants, private donations and community support – will to enable to Hemming Park to preserve the character of the park while making it more pedestrian friendly, softer and greener. Our first project was creating and area around the Laura Street fountain which will be home to a sculpture garden later this year. During the next couple of months, Hemming Park will undergo more renovation, including beautification and enhancements to the Kids Zone and Charlie’s Cafe. The contractors have and will continue to do their best to minimize the impact of the construction during this next phase of refurbishing the park.
We apologize for the inconvenience and remind patrons that our fountain area is under construction. We are working diligently to complete the work by September 2017. Please take a moment to complete a brief survey to let us know how we’re doing.
