The April 2016 Jaxsons Night Market will mark two years since Jaxsons Night Market was created by Mike Field of Transform Jax.
Presented by Community First Credit Union of Florida, this exciting Downtown night market is held every third Thursday of the month at Hemming Park from 5:30-9 p.m. Designed to compliment Art Walk, this food-centric market celebrates what makes us uniquely Jaxsons including local farmers, artisanal food producers, fashion trucks, food trucks, local beer and live music.
The original concept was ignited during One Spark 2014. Field tells the story below . . .
“Around lunch time during the second day of One Spark 2014, I was sitting in the Barnett Bank building feeling inspired by the bustling streets downtown. A One Spark staffer was sitting next to me talking about the idea of ‘keeping the spark alive’ after the One Spark festival was over. I remember distinctly the impression it made on me and thought that it was time to finally make the idea a reality (I had been tossing the idea [of Jaxsons] around in my head for almost a year).
I logged on to the IRS website using the free wifi downtown to create a tax ID, then walked a few blocks over to the Tax Collectors Office to establish a business license, opened a business account at the downtown Community First Credit Union branch, had a designer create a logo for me, then went to the Downtown FedEx Kinkos to print out posters and flyers. I spent the next several days of One Spark recruiting vendors and passing out flyers. The first market was held two weeks later and featured about half a dozen One Spark creators among other local entrepreneurs.”
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating two years of Jaxsons Night Market on Thursday, April 21 and every third Thursday after!
