Friends of Hemming Park presents June Programming

Celebrate Public Art Week with Collaborative Activities for All; June 22nd Summer Concert with Flow Tribe

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 3, 2019 – Friends of Hemming Park is proud to host the following programs and events in Hemming Park, located at 135 W. Monroe Street in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville. All activities listed below are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.


WEDS, June 5

ArtWalk – The 6th Annual Bold City Brewery Summer Sizzle  5 – 9 p.m.

Join Downtown Vision and Friends of Hemming Park for the release of Bold City Brewery’s Big John’s Apricot Wheat ale and a performance by The Firewater Tent Revival on our main stage from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

ArtWalk is presented by Downtown Vision on the first Wednesday of every month, rain or shine. More than 60 ArtWalk venues stretch across Downtown Jacksonville’s core and include galleries, museums, Downtown businesses and more. Hemming Park serves as ArtWalk headquarters and hosts a variety of artists and live performances each and every month.

40th Annual Run for the Pies 5k, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

1st Place Sports Running is hosting their 40th Annual Run for the Pies 5k in Hemming Park! Join us for beer, prizes, a pie eating contest, block party and more. Click here for all of the details:

Public Art Week

Friends of Hemming Park and partners including the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, MOCA Jacksonville, The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, Jacksonville Public Library, Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), Art Republic, and the University of North Florida present an entire week of activities to showcase public art in Northeast Florida. We’ll celebrate the opening of our new Laura Street Sculpture Garden; host hands-on arts activities all week; provide public art tours; and close out the week with a community celebration featuring an artists’ market and a free concert by local performers Let’s Ride Brass Band and Spice and the Po Boys and New Orleans-based headliner Flow Tribe. Hemming Park Sculpture Garden: Opening Reception, 5 – 7 p.m.

Join Friends of Hemming Park, the University of North Florida and MOCA Jacksonville as we celebrate the opening of our Hemming Park Sculpture Garden and honor our artists and donors.  Enjoy live music, hors d’oeuvres and drinks. This event is by invitation only; visit our website for information on how you can support this important initiative.


Summer Concert with Flow Tribe, 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Help us celebrate the opening of our new NOrth LAura Street sculpture garden with a New Orleans-style party featuring Flow Tribe!  Spice and the Po Boys and Let’s Ride Brass Band will think started; food trucks include Bayou a PO’ Boy and Cajun Cravins’ 2 Go. TGIF Music Series, 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Hemming Park is a great place to enjoy lunch throughout the work week, with food trucks and music every day. On Fridays, we feature performances by some of Jacksonville’s favorite local bands. Bring a bag lunch, grab a bite from one of our food trucks or your favorite downtown restaurant and enjoy a free concert to get your weekend started. Here’s the full lineup for June:

Sunday:  Hemming Park Kids Zone, 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Sunday Yoga in the Park

Sunday we continue Yoga in the Park at 3 pm with our new partners, Yoga 4 Change! This class is FREE for members of Friends of Hemming Park with a suggested minimum donation of just $5 for all others. We host the class in our kids zone, which has plenty of shade and turf. Bring water and a mat and join us near the corner of Laura and Duval.
