    As the Events and Programming Coordinator for Friends of Hemming Park you are joining a talented team of innovators who are passionate about helping change the way that Hemming Park in downtown Jacksonville, Fla. is perceived in the public eye as it is transformed into a modern, urban space.

    More specifically,

    • You will act as the lead for all events and programming in the park
    • You will develop, manage, and contribute to Hemming Park’s efforts to create a rich and compelling urban park
    • You will work closely with the Marketing Director & Special Events Coordinator
    • You are a talented leader with strong relationship building skills
    • You have a deep knowledge of event management
    • You have experience programming for a variety of audiences and ages
    • You understand human-space interaction and the concept of placemaking
    • You are extremely organized and have a creative mind
    • You can work effectively in a fast­-paced startup environment

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as they relate to the needs of the business.

    • Develop and execute the Hemming Park event management and strategic plan
    • Work directly with the leadership team on the management of events from start to finish, including staffing, run of show, day-of execution, troubleshooting equipment problems, and solving technical issues
    • Create innovative and compelling event content on a regular basis
    • Develop event sponsorship opportunities
    • Create and delivers crafted event reports noting attendance, times, and other critical elements
    • Work with the marketing director to ensure important event information is communicated through online channels, including event pictures, sponsor representation, and important event announcements
    • Build and maintains event vendor relationships, including but not limited to food vendors and event production companies
    • Provide support, training and guidance to volunteer and event support staff
    • Ensure that setup of equipment is in accordance with Hemming Park safety standards and fire and health codes, including City of Jacksonville based rules and operations
    • Work with the Operations Director to ensure all event insurance requirements are met and meet the standards of the City of Jacksonville
    • Work in collaboration with the Marketing and Operations directors to ensure Hemming Park, vendor, partner, and sponsor signage is properly sized, ordered in a timely manner, and well represented in Hemming Park for events, activities, or on-going sponsorship
    • Work in collaboration with the operations director to ensure all event related sponsor fulfillment needs are met and managed to sponsor satisfaction
    • Promotes the comfort and safety of all event attendees and handle special requests and emergency situations as they arise in a professional and calm manner
    • Ensures that all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values Hemming Park
    • Manages all event related financial plans/budgets
    • Works with the Hemming Park team to design community, sponsor, and visitor satisfaction surveys
    • Support and advise the executive director in event operations based decision making
    • Coordinates the opening and closing of facilities
    • Assist other staff members in monitoring all activities in the park and responding to issues in the park that detract from its clean, safe, and inviting atmosphere
    • Other duties as assigned

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Bachelors degree in event management, business administration or logistics
    • Minimum of 3-5 years experience providing event management, placemaking, or logistical duties in an event venue, startup or nonprofit environment
    • Excellent organizational skills & trustworthy through and through
    • Excellent word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software skills
    • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and Social Media
    • Fluent in English is required
    • Must be available to work some nights and weekends
    • Must be able to interact with high level internal and external executives
    • Background check & drug screening required.
